Legs are tired today, especially the left quad for some reason. It ached at night, and I can feel it going up stairs.
Still, I decided to push a few more minutes today, and work the sore leg. Maybe it will get stronger.

A chronicle of my efforts to run every day, thoughts about running and health, and interesting places to run.

A nice afternoon run, down the road, with my son. He’s training for his black belt, and after school we did a nice, short run together.

A good run for me, cruising along on the treadmill at a good pace with the wind howling outside.

An early morning run. Felt OK, despite being a bit tight this morning in the left calf. It loosened up as I went a little slower.

A quick one today, everything feeling fine, despite 3 nights of karate this week.

Too windy to run outside. I hate wind, and it kills my eyes. So a nice, steady treadmill run. Legs felt fine.

A run with Delaney, heading down the road. We were pressed for time, so it wasn’t fast, or long.

This whole year of 2010 it’s felt like my body was beat up, especially the legs. My knee has ached since Jan 1, though I can write that off to old age, a lack of rest, and a crash snowboarding on that date. It’s gotten better, though it seems like I continually do something to tweak it. The right ankle has rolled 3 times over the year, so almost as soon as it heals, I seem to hurt it again. Lots of chores have made my back sore a number of times.
The other day I woke up with a sore ankle; sore enough that I limped around for a few hours in the morning, wondering how the run would go. I felt better, and made it through the run, though I was sore. I wrote that off to karate the night before and was hoping that I was correct.
However the next day I woke up feeling fine. No pain, no soreness. And no karate the night before.
I think over two years I’ve learned to really listen to and respect my body, not just bullying my way through a run every day. I had major doubts I could really run for a year when I started, but I have proved to myself that it’s possible and your body can handle it.
If I can do it, I think most people can.
A nice day outside, and since it feels like the weather might turn soon, I took advantage and headed outside for a nice lunch run.
I took it slow, just jogging along and not pushing too hard. The legs were slightly sore, as was the back after a full day of chores, so I tried to listen to my body and just jog along.

I hit the treadmill again, trying to get done quickly. I also cut off the monitor at 14:00 without including my cool down walk, so the numbers are skewed slightly. I felt great, and cruised the whole time at 6.5, feeling good.

A short treadmill run with a gale outside blowing. I felt great, but didn’t push things far. Did go faster than I have on previous days. Kept a 6.5mph pace for a lot of the run.

An early morning outside jog with my son. Cruising down the road at his pace. Some running in place while he walked, but not a lot.
